Ōki Izumi was born in Tokyo, Japan. She graduated in Japanese Literature from Waseda University in Tokyo and studied painting and sculpture under Aiko Miyawaki, Taku Iwasaki, and Yoshishige Saito.
In 1977, she was awarded a scholarship by the Italian government. In 1981, she graduated from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts after completing a course in sculpture.
She has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Italy, Japan, and worldwide with her works and installations.
