MyMicroGallery is pleased to announce, from January 15 to 28, 2015, “Il Viaggio è un altro” (The Journey is Something Else), a solo exhibition by Milena Barberis curated by Stefania Carrozzini. The show features works created following the artist’s journey to New York in 2008.

The exhibition consists of nine digital “painting” photographs in which the artist is the absolute protagonist of a story that looks back through time on an emotional level. Her intention and desire are to experiment with different extensions of energy, communicating that creative thought knows no limits and transcends the rules of time established by the organized systems of society. This reality is drawn from daily life, marked by a balance of playfulness and seriousness. Here, the notion of play takes on an almost seductive quality, allowing for various interpretations centered on the recovery of a dimension that belongs to the essence of being: play as a superior spiritual activity. It is a path that serves as a form of healing—a re-appropriation of fundamental aspects, not through a nostalgic lens of the past, but as the beginning of a new quest for self-discovery.

Ultimately, it is the gestures that speak, becoming a voice embodied in the image. It is from this point that Milena Barberis began to express conflicting parts of herself: her own shadows, good and evil, love and hate.
